Welcome to a guided meditation for contentment.
Daily we fight for contentment, and our mental health has taken some hard hits. Discontentment is sometimes subtle. It creeps into over lives as we scroll through our social media feeds and compare our lives to others. It makes its home in the center of our hearts and steals our hope, joy, and peace.
Listen to what Paul wrote to the church in Philippi when they were concerned for him,
Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Philippians 4:11-13
Paul learned how to be content when in need and with abundance. He tells us the answer is Jesus. When we are falling into discontentment, we can look up to Jesus in Hope. He gives us the strength to find beauty in the everyday moments of life and the strength to remain humble when our lives are plentiful. He satisfies our thirsty souls and fills us with good things in every season.
Reflection
As we end this meditation, letās take a moment to think about the areas of our lives where we have been discontent. Take a moment to pray and lay your discontentment at Jesusā feet. When you are ready, take a deep breath through the nose. Slowly breathe out through the mouth. Release any tension in the body with each breath.
But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content.
1 Timothy 6:6-8
